Volunteerism at ARC
The Doctors at Alberta Retina Consultants provide pro bono teleophthalmology consultation services to many developing countries including Cameroon, Congo, Kenya, India and Ethiopia. This work has led to further training of Dr. Tambe from Cameroon at Alberta Retina Consultants, and has allowed him to return to Cameroon as the only retinal specialist.
We are expecting Dr. Tilikshew Teshome, retinal specialist, to be with us for three months between April and June 2011 to further enhance his surgical skills.
Upcoming Projects
Dr. Greve, along with two nurses and a biomedical engineer, are headed to Kakinada, India to do volunteer work and teach at the Srikiran Eye Institute. He will be working with Dr. Tejeswara Dhupam, our previous fellow, helping with surgeries, teaching their residents and developing a teleophthalmology program.
