Dr. Parampal Grewal

Dr. Paul Grewal is a Retina Specialist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon who considers himself fortunate to practice in his hometown of Edmonton. He completed medical school at the University of British Columbia and subsequently Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Alberta, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed two Retina Fellowships, firstly at Moorfields Eye Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust in London, England and secondly at the University of Toronto.


Dr. Grewal is a dual board-certified Ophthalmologist in both Canada and the United States. Having completed 15-years of post-secondary training, including dedicated Retina training at other institutions of excellence, he has gained expertise in both common and rare medical and surgical retinal disease.


Notable awards include the Eye Foundation of Canada National Scholarship and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Detweiler Travelling Fellowship Grant. He has achieved 50 scientific publications and presentations in academic journals and at national as well as international conferences. Dr. Grewal teaches medical students, residents and fellows at the University of Alberta. Paul is a member of the Canadian Ophthalmology Society, Canadian Retina Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists.
